Call for abstracts

Abstract guidelines

Registered participants are kindly invited to submit abstract(s) of their contribution(s) by e-mail to abstract@pesti2008.org, using the Abstract Template. Please submit your abstract by e-mail, as an attachment, and in MS Word format. Abstracts submitted in any other form will not be considered. Note that at least one of the authors (the submitting author) must be registered for an abstract to be considered for acceptance.

The abstracts must be prepared according to the following instructions:

  • Authors are requested to submit abstracts only in English .
  • Abstracts must be submitted under one of the following topics:
  1. Pestivirus properties  
  2. Virus-host interactions 
  3. Diagnostics and vaccines
  4. Biologicals and biosafety  
  5. Epidemiology and control
  6. Socio-economic aspects of pestivirus control
  • Authors should clearly fill in all the requested information about their presentation.
  • The abstract should be completed in accordance with the formatting guidelines as presented in the Abstract Template.
  • Abstracts are limited to 1 A4 page (all items included). If tables, charts, figures or graphs are included, these must have legends and be in black and white.

Review process

Deadline for abstract submission is Friday May 16, 2008. Abstracts submitted after this date will not be considered.The Scientific Committee will notify the submitting author that the abstract has been received.

All abstracts will be independently reviewed within the Extended Scientific Committee. Authors should indicate their preference for an oral or poster presentation, but the Scientific Committee reserves the right to designate the presentation format, if necessary. The final acceptance decision is the exclusive right of the Scientific Committee.

Presenting authors will be informed no later than June 15, 2008 about the acceptance or rejection of their abstract(s) and the designated type of presentation format.

A decision by the authors to withdraw their abstract from consideration, or not to present it within the designated format, should be communicated to the Scientific Committee immediately, to abstract@pesti2008.org.

Accepted abstracts will be published in the Proceedings of the 7th ESVV Pestivirus Symposium.
There will also be an opportunity for authors of papers accepted for oral presentation to publish in a special issue of Veterinary Microbiology. More information about this opportunity will be given after acceptance of the paper.
