Dear Friend and Colleague,
The European Society of Veterinary Virology hereby invites you to the 7th International Pestivirus Symposium, to be held in Uppsala, September 16-19, 2008. These symposia are held every third year, and we hope that the 2008 edition will continue the tradition of the previous symposia in providing a forum for presentation of the latest developments in research and control of pestiviruses. We are confident that it will be an excellent opportunity to meet and interact with leading scientists in a stimulating environment and, hopefully, a pleasant climate.
From being one of the most important cities for the Vikings, Uppsala later became a Christian religious as well as an Academic centre with the oldest university in Scandinavia. Anders Celsius and the medical professors Olof Rudbeck and Carl von Linné have all worked here. Today, Uppsala is an expanding and modern University city, a mixture of old and new influences creating an interesting atmosphere for the congress. On behalf of the organising committee, it is a great pleasure to welcome you to Uppsala.
